Had a fantastic time with the entire Surf Journey crew making it an unforgettable and rewarding experience. Were great with communications from beginning to end and customized my lessons to my lodging locations in Bali (Kuta & Uluwatu). The instructors matched my skill level to the waves and worked extremely hard enabling me to focus on my technique. The photographer did an amazing job staying on top of everything and was ready to shoot when needed. Having the photo/video analysis at the end of each day made a big difference in my learning and also for some memorable media to share with friends and family. Ich habe bereits einige Erfahrungen mit Surfschulen gemacht, allerdings nur im europäischen Raum. Bali war eine völlig neue und meine bisher beste Erfahrung. Dono als Lehrer zu haben, war über 5 Tage hinaus eine 10 von 10. Alles war in Balance. Er war wie ein Fels in der Brandung beim auf und ab mit den Wellen. Immer motivierend, verständnisvoll und unterstützend, sodass ich sehr schnell Fortschritte machte. Neben den Foto-und Videoanalysen nach jeder Session, kam auch der Spaß auf dem Wasser und an Land nie zu kurz. Ich habe diese tägliche Routine sehr geliebt. Und apropos Fotos…mein Verlobter und ich hatten den besten Fotografen an unserer Seite. Philipp ist einfach so unglaublich talentiert und hatte immer ein Lächeln im Gesicht. Dank ihm können wir diese Zeit immer wieder Revue passieren lassen und uns auf die nächste Sessions mit Surf Journey freuen. Denn das steht fest, wir kommen wieder. Großen Dank auch an Yosua für die Organisation und alles was im Background lief. If you really want the best time learning or mastering your surfing skills in Bali, go with SurfJourney. I joined SurfJourney with my fiancée for a 5-day Semi-Private course. I’m a total beginner & she already knew some. Our coach was Dono, and oh my my, I don’t even know where to start. He’s a gem of a person and such a great coach. On the very first day, we reached the beach and it felt way too rough for us. The waves were huge & we were honestly doubting the beach for the 1st session. Dono immediately picked up on that energy. He didn’t wait for us to say anything. He just smiled and said we’d take it slow today. He ended the session an hour early without making us feel weird about it, and then gave us an extra hour the next day at a calmer beach. That move alone told me this man truly understands his students. He wasn’t there to tick off hours or just finish a session. He wanted us to enjoy it and learn the right way! Every single day after that we surfed at a new beach. That was the best part. The change in waves, the conditions, the vibe... everything was different and that’s what made it so exciting. It felt like we were progressing naturally, step by step, instead of being thrown into the deep end. Dono gave us his full attention for two solid hours every single day. No distractions, no half hearted imstructions. He was there, in it with us, every minute. Watching, correcting, motivating, and celebrating every tiny improvement. By the fourth day I was already catching waves properly and falling way less. On the last day, I was actually riding waves almost all the way to the beach. I didn’t think that would happen in five days, but with Dono, it just clicked. The way he explains everything.. how to read the ocean, howto understand your board, how to feel the wave instead of fighting it.. it’s just next level. His patience, his calm energy, his ability to read your mood and adjust accordingly, you can’t describe it in words. You have to experience it. Our course also included land & water photography, and that was handled by Phillip, the young master with the camera. I’ve never seen someone so chill under huge waves. This guy was literally swimming next to us while we struggled to stay balanced, clicking photos that look straight out of a movie. Every single shot was insane, even in tough conditions!! And then there’s Yosua, who managed everything behind the scenes. Constant updates about timings, class locations, and ocean conditions.. he was on it every time. If there was any change in plan, we’d know it well in advance. Everything ran so smoothly because of him. What really stood out to me was that there was never any time pressure. Nobody watching the clock or cutting you off. Even after the class was technically over, we’d all sit down together..me, my fiancée, Dono, Phillip,. We’d look at the photos, analyse.. laugh at the wipeouts, talk about what went wrong, and learn how to fix it next time. Those little post-surf hangouts were honestly my favourite part of the whole experience. It felt like being part of a family, not just students at a surf school. If you truly want to learn how to surf, not just stand on a board for a photo, SurfJourney is the one. Ask for Dono, Phillip, and Yosua. You’ll thank me later. I’ve travelled a lot and tried many different sports, but I’ve never met a team that teaches with this much heart, patience, and pure love for what they do. SurfJourney didn’t just teach me to surf.
